Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ), Germany, together with the Georgian Technical University (GTU) - are planning the   Workshop Development of SMART/ Imaging Labs in Georgia which will be held in Tbilisi, Georgia, August 28-september 3, 2016.

On the occasion of the 10-year anniversary of the Georgian-German Science  Bridge (GGSB), a Letter of Intent (Lol) was signed between the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia (MoE) and Forschungszentrum Julich GmbH (JULICH) (refer to Annex 1) to support and further develop their long-term scientific and educational cooperation. In this regard the foundation of so called SMART|Labs (SMART is the abbreviation for Science, Medicine, Applied Research and Technology and hereafter called the “PROJECT”) between a consortium of Georgian Universities (the Georgian Technical University (GTU), IIia State University (ISU) and Tbilisi State University (TSU)) and particular JULICH institutes (Institute of Energy and Climate Research (IEK), Nuclear Physics Institute (IKP), Institute of Neuroscience and Medicine (INM), Julich Center for Neutron Science (JCNS) and Central Institute of Engineering, Electronics and Analytics (ZEA)) is envisaged. JULICH and MoE have developed a basic understanding of the mutual demands made on the PROJECT. 
In October of 2015 a document was signed between Georgian Ministry of Education and FZJ (MoU) regarding SMART/ Lab’s (SMART is the abbreviation for Science, Medicine, Applied Research and Technology)  ,which will support young scientists in Georgia. One of these SMART/ Lab’s will be integrated in GTU in 2017 and on the given workshop we will discuss the preparatory actions for the SMART/ Imaging Lab’s.
